Wanted Man held in neighbouring Suriname

A Corentyne, Berbice man who has been on the run from the police in Guyana since April 2023, was earlier today (May 09, 2024) taken into custody by police in Regional Division #6 after he was deported from Suriname by Authorities in that country.

Police today confirmed that 47-year-old Sasenarine Sankar called ‘Barber’ and ‘Wire’ of Lot 2 E #69 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, who was wanted for ‘Attempted Murder’, he was reportedly captured at a tyre shop in Suriname.

Sankar is accused of committing the act on a 35-year-old woman whom he shared a common law relationship with, at #55 Village, Corentyne, Berbice on April 05, 2023.

The man allegedly entered the victim’s home while she was asleep and chopped her to the left hand, side, foot, and index finger. Sankar, after committing the act, illegally fled to Suriname. He remains in custody pending charges.
